Fujitsu LifeBook P1500 Notebook, Industry's Smallest and Lightest Convertible to Offer Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Operating System

Mobility Without Compromise - for All Mobile Professionals

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 13 -- Fujitsu Computer Systems today announced that starting next month, the LifeBook(R) P1500 notebook will be available with Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, broadening the appeal of the industry's smallest and lightest convertible notebook

The ultra-portable 2.2 pound LifeBook P1500 notebook, also available with Microsoft Windows XP Professional, is equipped with a bright compact 8.9 inch wide SVGA touch screen display and long battery life, and packed with full PC functionality. Use it in tablet mode and navigate easily with touch screen or pen-driven input through forms-based applications used extensively in healthcare, field and sales force automation and supply chain management, or use the pen stylus for jotting notes and capturing signatures for contracts or purchase orders. Easily rotate the screen and tilt it up to transform the LifeBook P1500 notebook into a standard notebook with a keyboard for versatility and mobility without compromise. The LifeBook P1500 notebook delivers the performance and reliability mobile professionals expect from Fujitsu, recently rated tops for reliability among Windows-based notebooks in PC Magazine's 18th annual Reader Satisfaction Survey.

"The Fujitsu brand is recognized in the mobile computing industry as one of the foremost pioneers in pen-enabled PCs and in quality as evidenced by the widely acclaimed LifeBook P1500 notebook," said Bill Mitchell, corporate vice president of the Mobile Platforms Division at Microsoft Corp. "The Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 operating system now supports touch technology as an alternative input method, and the LifeBook P1500 is the first notebook to take advantage of this capability. Customers now have the flexibility of both active pen and resistive touch navigation, and will be able to use Tablet PC in new and different ways."

"With the opportunity to offer the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system on the LifeBook P1500 notebook, organizations that have made the investment in developing Tablet PC optimized applications can now take advantage of a form factor that is ideal for the mobile workforce," said Richard McCormack, senior vice president, Product & Solutions Marketing, at Fujitsu Computer Systems. "Whether LifeBook P1500 notebook customers select the Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system or the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, they gain unequalled mobility and versatility along with full-blown PC functionality."
