New Biometric Authentication System Will Feature the Fujitsu Award Winning PalmSecure(TM) Sensor and Suncoast Solutions' Software System
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 15 -- Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, and Suncoast Solutions, a market leader in Hospice, Palliative Care, and End-of-Life software, today announced that the two companies are teaming up to provide a high-security application that will deliver biometric authentication and password management for healthcare environments. Utilizing Fujitsu PalmSecure technology and Suncoast Solutions' software system, users will benefit from new features including single sign on function as well as password management that is contactless and hygienic, ensuring rapid and highly secure access to mission critical applications.
Additionally, Joel Hagberg, vice president, marketing and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America will be keynoting Suncoast Solution's 5th annual Users' Conference in Clearwater Beach, FL on November 17. During his address, Mr. Hagberg will discuss how Fujitsu has been able to leverage more than twenty years of industry leading image recognition and processing expertise to develop the palm vein recognition technology at the core of the PalmSecure solution -- and how this technology will be put to use to deliver a secure access device to Suncoast Solutions and its customers. The Fujitsu PalmSecure device will also be showcased at the Conference Lab, which is running from November 13-17.
A leading provider of comprehensive healthcare software tools, Suncoast Solutions helps hospices and home health agencies manage the full breadth of processes and data tracking as patients move in and out of each phase of the continuum of care. Everything needed -- from clinical documentation to detailed cost management -- is available in the Suncoast Solutions offering. With a software architecture that enables the decentralization of operations while still providing centralized reporting, users are empowered with an efficient system to manage their agency's activities.
"Suncoast Solutions' clients expect cutting-edge technology to enable them to better serve patients in a variety of settings. We are fortunate to have a strong relationship with Fujitsu so we can continue to exceed those expectations," said Teresa Craig, CEO, Suncoast Solutions. "The new biometric features will add an extra level of security to help healthcare organizations protect patient and family information."
"Fujitsu is proud to be collaborating with Suncoast Solutions to deliver this application for the healthcare industry," said Joel Hagberg, vice president, marketing and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "The combination of our state-of-the-art biometric authentication technology and Suncoast Solutions' groundbreaking software system ensures that program access will be governed by a high level of security."
The Fujitsu PalmSecure biometric authentication device provides a contactless, hygienic and non-invasive means to authenticate identity by leveraging each person's unique palm vein architecture. The sensor works by capturing a near-infrared image of the palm vein pattern. The proprietary algorithm takes this data, converts it into a digitized biometric template, and then matches it against a pre-registered template.
In addition to providing physical access control, the Fujitsu PalmSecure sensor can also be used for data security, acting as a gatekeeper for computer and network access. The PalmSecure biometric device can be connected directly to the USB port of a notebook PC, or embedded into desktop PC keyboards.
