Fujitsu and EB Team-Up to Provide Complete AUTOSAR Packages for MCUs

Langen & Nurnberg, Germany, February 26th 2008 - Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) and EB, Elektrobit, are pleased to announce the expansion of their AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System Architecture) software solutions for Fujitsu's MB91460 series automotive microcontrollers with a new AUTOSAR V2.1 package. A package for AUTOSAR V2.0 is already available.

These products are the result of a strategic partnership agreement signed between the two companies last year. EB brings to the partnership a wealth of experience as a provider of leading software products and services for in-car applications, with a track record in AUTOSAR - the global initiative for an open automotive software architecture standard.

The partnership enables both companies to offer fully integrated AUTOSAR V2.0 and V2.1-compliant software packages meaning that:

o Fujitsu microcontrollers (starting with the MB91460 series) will support the AUTOSAR platform, including the Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL)

o Application software written according to the AUTOSAR standard can easily be ported onto Fujitsu microcontrollers

AUTOSAR was founded to offer a cost-optimised solution to managing the growing complexity of in-car electrics/electronics while simultaneously offering flexibility, scalability, improved quality/reliability, and enabling the detection of errors in early design phases. Over 100 companies have now joined this initiative and are developing software compatible with the AUTOSAR specifications.

Fujitsu and EB, both AUTOSAR premium members, can now provide a complete and seamless AUTOSAR implementation in Fujitsu's RISC (FR) MB91460 MCU series. The umbrella concept of the MB91460 series will allow support for AUTOSAR to be included easily on future members of the series.

The AUTOSAR software has been developed in close cooperation between Fujitsu and EB. Under the brand name EB tresos AutoCore, customers are provided with a full featured AUTOSAR standard core for the MB91460 series, which includes the runtime environment (RTE), the AUTOSAR operating system (OS), communication stacks for LIN, CAN and FlexRay(TM), and other modules for diagnostic, state management and memory services. The Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) of the MB91460 series can be provided as a 'standalone' package or as a fully integrated AUTOSAR package. The AUTOSAR standard core and the FlexRay bus communication are configured through an integrated tool chain, consisting of EB tresos Studio and EB tresos Designer.

Availability

The software package currently available is compliant with the AUTOSAR specification V2.0. The AUTOSAR V2.1 package will be available in Q2 2008.

Fujitsu and EB offer a variety of further support activities, and both companies will continue to co-operate on AUTOSAR Phase II to implement AUTOSAR for functional safety features required for next-generation MCUs.
