Fujitsu Expands Thermal Printer Mechanism Offering

Adds low-voltage, 4-inch thermal printer mechanism for OEM designs

Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today expanded its current offering of 2- and 3-inch, low-voltage thermal printer mechanisms with the addition of a high-speed, 4-inch, 5-volt solution.

The FTP-64HMCL153 is targeted to OEMs looking to incorporate fast (100mm/sec), 4-inch label or receipt printing functionality into their products. With the ability to utilize a range of paper thicknesses from 60µ to 150µm, this low-voltage mechanism is suited for various applications such as portable receipt printers, labeling and ticket printers, medical equipment, industrial equipment, kiosk terminals and weighing scales.

The printer mechanism features a durable, diecast frame, yet weighs only 170g. Due to the optimized motor placement, the printer measures a compact 29.1mm (D) x 144.6mm (W) x 42.5mm (H), assisting OEMs in minimizing the size and weight of their products.

The printer features a platen release/locking design to simplify paper loading and to provide quick access to the thermal head for easy maintenance, both of which improve the end user experience. In addition to the long, 100km (62 miles) life of the thermal head, a straight paper path has been employed to minimize paper jams, potentially reducing the number of service calls.
