Frequency Source suits wireless engineering applications.

Press Release Summary:

Due to internal Ni-MH battery/charging system, Rhino3(TM) GPS-based frequency source provides reference frequencies anywhere without loss of synchronization. Once GPS satellites are acquired, ovenized crystal oscillator provides absolute accuracy and stability of 1E-10. Portable unit provides input references for 1 pps phase and 10 MHz frequency measurements and adjustment. Unit also offers 12 Vdc input, push button control, and LCD interface.

Berkeley Releases New Frequency Source

METUCHEN, New Jersey. -- April 25, 2003 -- BVS introduces Rhino3(TM), a low-cost, GPS-based frequency standard for wireless scientific, military and engineering applications.

Rhino3(TM) is Berkeley's low-cost frequency source precise enough for laboratory use and rugged enough for field and drive-study use. Rhino3 is ideal where GPS reception is unavailable or weak such as indoors, large cities and underground. Once GPS satellites are acquired, Rhino3's ovenized crystal oscillator provides absolute accuracy and stability of 1E-10. Rhino3 includes an internal Ni-MH battery/fast charging system so it may be used anywhere (over 3 hours runtime) to provide reference frequencies without loss of synchronization. The portable unit provides input references for 1PPS PHASE and 10 MHz FREQUENCY measurements and adjustment. Rhino3 also includes 12 DC volt input for sustained power but is a self-contained frequency source that includes push button control and LCD interface. Available in Summer 2003.

BNC INPUT/OUTPUT CONNECTORS:
10 MHz OUTPUT (three 1 Vpp in 50 Ohm loads)
1 PPS OUTPUT locked to GPS with ± 10ns
1 PPS INPUT for Phase Measurements
10 MHz INPUT for Frequency Measurements
