French® Hydraulic Presses: Superior Value, Superior Service

Piqua, Ohio - For nearly a century The Timken Company, based in Canton, Ohio, has been a customer of The French Oil Mill Machinery Company. While Timken continually updates their technology and procedures within their steel operations, their company still relies on one of their oldest machines, a 68-year-old, 500-ton French® straightening press.

According to Larry Marks, Steel Processing Manager at Timken, "Straightening presses are used in Timken steel operations, and the French hydraulic press is one of our oldest units still in operation today. This press has proven to be exceptionally reliable; especially in extreme cases of straightening. With Timken's reputation for producing quality products, we value manufacturers, like French, that share our commitment to quality and reliability."

After years of rugged use, the press required its first major replacement part, a new top plunger, in the Spring of 2010. Using the original bill of material and archived drawings, French's Aftermarket Sales Group, engineering team and machinists were able to make and improve the design of the replacement part.

Daniel P. French, Chairman of the Board and President, comments, "Our ability to fulfill Timken's part order for our 1942 press is an outstanding example of the superior value of French machinery. My grandfather, Alfred W. French, founded the company with a vision of sound engineering, machine quality and outstanding customer service. Maintaining this commitment to our stakeholders is one of the pillars of our success."

French also values Timken's commitment to quality and has been a Timken customer for almost 100 years, using various Timken bearings in their presses and processing equipment.

The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR, www.timken.com/) keeps the world turning with innovative friction management and power transmission products and services, enabling its customers' machinery to perform more efficiently and reliably.
