Freeman Technology Presents New Research at the 2013 AAPS Annual Meeting & Exposition

Freeman Technology booth # 3346

Tewkesbury, UK: Tim Freeman, Managing Director of Freeman Technology, will present new work describing the application of powder characterisation in the development of continuous manufacturing processes, at this year's American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists Annual Meeting and Exposition (10-14 November 2013, San Antonio, USA). Freeman Technology will also present a poster describing research that quantifies the impact on flow properties of adding magnesium stearate to different powders. The company will exhibit the FT4 Powder Rheometer® on booth #3346, where an expert team will be at hand throughout the event to discuss all aspects of powder characterisation.

Tim Freeman's first presentation, 'Powder characterisation and its application in process development for continuous manufacturing,' will take place at 3.20pm on Tuesday 12th November 2013. Continuous manufacturing is an area of intense interest within the pharmaceutical industry because of its potential to enhance process efficiency. Using new research and case study data, this presentation will illustrate how universal powder testing, and most especially the measurement of dynamic powder properties, supports the development of continuous unit operations such as wet granulation.

On Wednesday 13 November 2013 at 9am, Tim Freeman will present 'Material characterisation and relevance to in-process performance'. He will focus on the ability of the latest tools for powder characterisation to provide insight into process performance far beyond that which is accessible with conventional pharmacopoeial powder testing techniques.

Freeman Technology posters 'An investigation into the Wall Friction Angle of a range of vessel/equipment coatings used in pharmaceutical processing equipment' and 'Analysis of the effects of quantity and type of Magnesium Stearate addition on pharmaceutical powder flow' will be displayed from 1.30 pm until 4.30pm on 12 November 2013 in Exhibit Hall ABCD.

These posters describe new research into areas of substantial importance within pharmaceutical development. They examine the use of the FT4 Powder Rheometer to identify surface coatings that enhance processing efficiency, and to optimise blend flowability through the addition of magnesium stearate.
