Epiphan Systems has announced the release of a new frame grabber - VGA2Ethernet PRO. Aimed primarily at medical and military industries, VGA2Etherenet PRO is able to capture an image from a VGA stream, digitize it, and send it over a network to a local or remote computer.
Unlike most frame grabbers, VGA2Ethernet PRO is able to capture VGA streams at resolutions up to 2048 x 2048 and can achieve pixel rates up to 270 Megapixels per second. Furthermore, VGA2Ethernet PRO can achieve capture rates of up to 120 frames per second under different conditions. It does this through proprietary pre-compression technology that minimizes the workload of standard compression algorithms by eliminating noise that is common in transmission of VGA analog signals. The result is a clear and lossless digital output that ideally replicates the signal at the analog input.
VGA2Ethernet PRO is compatible with all 32 and 64-bit versions Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X, and Linux. A free image and video capture is available as a download from Epiphan's website, and an API and SDK are included for advanced users and developers who would like to integrate VGA2Ethernet PRO's functionality into their own solution or application.
