7th August, 2008, Taipei, Taiwan - ADLINK Technology, Inc.(TAIEX:6166) announces the release of the PCIe-GIE62, a PCI Express® GigE Vision(TM) frame grabber designed specifically for alignment, measurement, and identification uses in a variety of vision applications. The PCIe-GIE62 fully utilizes the bandwidth of a PCI Express x4 lane to support up to 1000 Mbps image acquisition rates and to provide two independent Gigabit Ethernet ports to connect to multiple GigE Vision cameras. The PCIe-GIE62 further improves performance by supporting "Jumbo Frames" - larger 9 kB data packets over the 1.5 kB standard - to reduce interrupts generated by incoming packets.
The PCIe-GIE62 is ADLINK's first card based on the GigE Vision(TM) open standard, which was defined in 2006 by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA). This standard allows industrial cameras to communicate via the Gigabit Ethernet standard to provide increased data rates of up to 1000 Mbps, longer cable distances of up to 100 m, and lower cabling costs over other transmission standards for vision applications.
The PCI-GIE62 is also suited for automation applications by providing two of each isolated TTL digital inputs, outputs, and programmable trigger output pulses to connect to external devices such as position sensors and strobe lighting. Drivers and APIs for custom applications are currently available for both Microsoft® Windows® XP and Microsoft® Windows® Vista.
