DALSA Coreco Expands X64 Series to Support Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity at Vision 2005 in Stuttgart, Germany

New X64-CL GigE Lite gives existing camera technology the ability to transmit captured images long distances over Ethernet Links

STUTTGART, GERMANY (November 8, 2005) - DALSA Coreco, (a division of DALSA Corporation -TSX: DSA), a leading developer of high-performance machine vision components and services, today announced the X64-GigE series. The X64-GigE series bundles field proven DALSA Coreco X64 frame grabber technology in a standalone box to capture images from a multitude of cameras and transfer them over standard Gigabit Ethernet links to the PC. The X64-GigE series preserves the investment in existing camera equipment by leveraging the synergies between camera and Ethernet technologies. The X64-GigE series is ideally suited for high performance machine vision applications where the host computer can't be located near the camera body and/or distributed processing is desired and/or data concentration is necessary. The X64-CL GigE Lite(TM), the first member of the X64-GigE series, will be introduced and showcased during VISION 2005 at DALSA Coreco's stand #616.

The X64-CL GigE Lite provides a Camera Link® single Base input and along with single 1000MB/s Ethernet connection utilizing industry standard Ethernet and UDP/IP protocols to deliver a flexible interconnect platform for machine vision applications. Moreover, the X64-CL GigE Lite can be used to deliver innovative machine vision solutions involving various standard networking connection topologies. For example, it is possible to connect one Camera Link camera using the X64-CL GigE Lite and a network hub to more than one host computers at the same time. Similarly, multiple X64-CL GigE Lites can be connected to a single host computer using a multi-port hub or a router.

"GigE Vision is the emerging standard for high speed machine vision cameras. GigE offers key advantages over other connections technologies including lower-cost equipment, interoperability in multi-vendor environments, longer-distance reach, and greater networking flexibility. Our new X64-GigE series supports this emerging environment," said Philip Colet, Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, DALSA Coreco. "However, existing machine vision applications have significant investments in Camera Link and line scan cameras. The X64-GigE series preserves that investment as the applications migrate to GigE Vision."

Key Features
Key features of the X64-CL GigE Lite include:
o Support for Line scan and area scan Camera Link cameras
o Dedicated Gigabit Ethernet port for image transfer
o Flexible network topologies allow distributed processing and data centralization
o Supports field proven Trigger-to-Image Reliability framework
o Proven software library and camera control tools
o Acquisition pixel clock rates up to 85MHz

The X64-CL GigE Lite is engineered within Coreco Imaging's Trigger-to-Image Reliability framework to ensure highly reliable and efficient acquisition control throughout the entire image capture sequence. High-speed in-line machine vision applications require tight integration between the trigger, strobe, camera exposure and frame grabber acquisition to ensure data integrity. Trigger-to-Image Reliability leverages DALSA Coreco's hardware and software innovations to control, monitor and correct the image acquisition process from the time that an external trigger event occurs to the moment the data is received in the host computer memory, providing traceability when errors do occur and permitting recovery from those errors.

Software Support
The X64-CL GigE Lite is supported by Coreco Imaging's Sapera(TM) LT software for acquisition and control. Sapera LT based machine vision applications can now use industry standard IP protocols to acquire, control and processing images with little load on the host CPU. Fully compliant with Sapera LT API, the Sapera LT network imaging driver makes porting existing applications to network environment easy and efficient. In addition to supporting multiple NIC, the Sapera LT also offers utilities to setup and configure compatible network devices.

Sapera LT now extends it networking capabilities to CamExpert - a powerful and easy to use camera configuration utility. CamExpert features powerful camera configuration GUI that makes remote camera setup and configuration fast and effortless. CamExpert supports both area and linescan Camera Link cameras. It also provides live display and pixel inspection tools for faster setup and diagnostics.
