ADLINK Introduces Industry First PoE Frame Grabber

The GIE62+ supports two PoE channels and link aggregation

San Jose, Calif - ADLINK Technology, Inc., a leading provider of machine vision boards, announced the release of the GIE62+, the industry's first Power over Ethernet (PoE) frame grabber providing two independent Gigabit Ethernet ports for multiple Gigabit Ethernet Vision device connections with data transfer rates up to 1 Gbps.

The GIE62+ is ADLINK's latest addition to their "power over cable" series of frame grabbers supporting Power over Camera Link®, IEEE 1394b (FireWire 800), and now Power over Ethernet. "Power over cable" solution provides single cable solution between cameras and frame grabbers to provide both data and power. Applications will greatly benefit through reduced costs, simpler installation (supporting cable lengths of up to 100 meters), and lower maintenance.

By supporting the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), the two Gigabit Ethernet ports on the GIE62+ can be configured as a Link Aggregation Group (LAG), and provide a sustained maximum data rate of 2 Gbps.

"This unique combination of features will be a great benefit a wide range of applications, especially where high-speed industrial vision is required," stated Ethan Huang, Senior Product Director at ADLINK. "We've even included two of each isolated TTL digital inputs, outputs, and programmable trigger pulses to connect to external devices such as position sensors and strobe lighting to further simplify implementation of complex designs."

The GIE62+ also provides automatic detection of being a powered device within the system to ensure reliable connections between other PoE and non-PoE cameras and frame grabber cards.
