Original Press Release:
Frame Grabber Provides World's First Camera Link® Solution for Laptops
January 24, 2006, (Boca Raton, FL) -- Imperx, Inc. brings the robust, industry-standard Camera Link® interface to the world of mobile imaging. The Framelink(TM) PCMCIA frame grabber slips into the PCMCIA slots found in most laptop computers, palmtop computers, PDAs and a host of other high-mobility computing devices. By employing the industry standard Camera Link® interface, Framelink(TM) puts high-performance image acquisition anywhere you need it.
Framelink(TM) is the world's first digital Camera Link® frame grabber for laptops. It provides the functionality, performance and versatility required by today's most demanding vision systems. The card features plug-n-play operation with hot insertion/removal and includes an intelligent scatter/gather DMA engine with a generous supply of on-board memory. A full software suite, including drivers and applications, is provided. Optional software development kit (SDK) is available.
Framelink(TM) features include:
o PCMCIA Cardbus interface;
o Small form factor PCMCIA Type II;
o Intelligent scatter/gather DMA for fast, efficient use of PCIbus bandwidth;
o On-board memory for fast image acquisition;
o Complies with the Base Camera Link® standard.
Framelink(TM)'s robust, industry standard Camera Link® interface makes it the ideal frame-grabber choice for engineers developing systems for industrial, medical, security and military applications. Camera Link® provides not only a video-optimized download channel that is twice as fast as Gigabit Ethernet with virtually no latency, but also provides a low-voltage digital signal (LVDS) pathway for bi-directional asynchronous communication between the host computer and camera. This allows the host to upload application software, configurations and trigger signals directly to any Camera-Link compliant digital camera in real time with virtually no latency.
Imperx, Inc. designs, develops and manufactures advanced, state-of-the-art imaging products used in the machine vision, medical, defense, surveillance and astronomy markets - wherever there is a need to capture high-resolution digital color or black/white images for both still and full-rate motion processing. Imperx' manufacturing facilities are certified for ISO 9002 compliance.
Imperx' product portfolio is focused in four core areas: cameras, frame grabbers, adapters and repeaters. The LYNX mega-pixel camera line features rich, high resolution, high speed, color and monochrome image-capture devices, and offers unprecedented performance for today's demanding machine vision and surveillance applications. The VCE series of analog frame grabbers have achieved number-one market share. Framelink(TM) digital frame grabbers for Camera Link® cameras are the only products of their kind on the market! The Adapt-A-Link(TM) series of adapters allows customers to leverage their investment in existing cameras or frame grabbers with dissimilar interfaces by performing the necessary adaptation. The Imperx series of Adapt-A-Link(TM) repeaters overcomes distance limits imposed by the Camera Link® and LVDS standards, providing virtually unlimited physical reach for distributed image-sensing systems.
