Coreco Imaging's New Bandit-II RGB Frame Grabber Supports New JAI CV-M77, Other Advanced Cameras

Latest frame grabber in Bandit Series also offers expanded image acquisition and display capabilities

Montreal, Quebec (July 25, 2002) - Coreco Imaging, a leading developer of high-performance machine vision products, today introduced the Bandit-II RGB, a high-performance, integrated VGA frame grabber that supports JAI's CV-M77 RGB camera. Designed for use with RGB, composite video and S-video cameras, the Bandit-II RGB offers developers of color vision applications extensive acquisition and display functionality at a reduced price.

"Coreco Imaging always strives to provide OEMs with highly reliable, flexible and technologically advanced machine vision components that can handle a variety of camera interface requirements at reasonable prices, and that is just what the Bandit-II RGB delivers," said Philip Colet, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at Coreco Imaging.

The CV-M77 uses the latest progressive scan technology and provides full-frame shuttered RGB output with fast asynchronous reset. "When used together, the CV-M77 and Bandit-RGB frame grabber combination is ideal for high-speed color inspection applications within medical imaging, food processing and traffic monitoring, to name only a few," Colet said.

The Bandit-II RGB is the newest addition to Coreco Imaging's powerful Bandit-II Series frame grabbers. The family is comprised of the Bandit-II CV, a general-purpose VGA frame grabber for acquisition and display, the Bandit-II MV, a high-performance monochrome frame grabber with integrated VGA display, and the Bandit-II RGB. Available for the AGP and PCI bus, Bandit Series frame grabbers provide numerous advanced image acquisition and display features, including:

- A flexible, state-of-the-art acquisition control unit (ACU) that can acquire images from a mix of RGB, video, s-video and monochrome multiplexed cameras;
- A low-pass filter, as well as brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and sharpness controls for superior image acquisition;
- Two sets of user-programmable, 8-bit input lookup-tables (iLUTs) for RGB or monochrome input signals that allow on-the-fly switching, speeding image acquisition;
- The ability to operate as a frame grabber with system VGA or as a frame grabber with a non-system display card, and to support the multiple VGA adapter feature of Windows NT, 2000 and XP;
- As a desktop VGA, Bandit-II RGB offers highly optimized 2D and 3D display rendering with up to 16MB of shared display memory. With its integrated dual-head display capability, live images can be displayed on the primary or secondary display output, in a window or in full screen mode. The Bandit-II RGB also supports Windows VGA extended desktop display capability in conjunction with a third-party VGA card;
- Interpolated zoom and scaling by an arbitrary factor allows zooming and scaling the entire image or a particular region of interest;
- Live images can be flipped vertically or horizontally (image mirroring), an indispensable feature for teleconferencing, endoscopy, ophthalmology and a variety of other medical applications.

All Bandit-II frame grabber applications are developed under Windows NT,® Windows 2000® and Windows XP® using Coreco Imaging's Sapera, WiT® or IFC software development libraries. Coreco Imaging's software development tools allow users to develop applications with C DLLs, C++ classes or ActiveX controls on Microsoft Visual C/C++ 6.0 (or higher) or Visual Basic 6.0 (or higher) development platforms.
