Frame Grabber Board has 4 asynchonous input channels.

Press Release Summary:

PC_EYE/ASYNC employs PCI Express bus interface for acquisition and simultaneous digitization of up to 4 independent (non-synchronized) camera signals. Images are stored in memory as 4 separate monochrome images in 8 bit-per-pixel format. Board is based on 2 programmable FPGAs with FIFOs, sequencers, and sync generators. Modifications to functionality of board's hardware are through software update, facilitating use of newer cameras.

Original Press Release:

Eltec Introduces 4-Channel PCI Express Frame Grabber with Four Simultaneous Asynchonous Input Channels

Las Vegas, NV, April 2005 - American ELTEC has introduced a new powerful frame grabber with four simultaneous asynchronous input channels and a high-speed PCI Express bus interface. The new PC_EYE/ASYNC PCI Express frame grabber board is an extremely cost-effective solution, replacing up to four monochrome frame grabber boards for the acquisition of four independent (non-synchronized) camera signals.

In industrial imaging applications, where digitization starts immediately after an external trigger signal, the use of reset/restart cameras is often mandatory. This operating mode is fully supported by the new frame grabber for four cameras. The design of the PC_EYE/ASYNC meets this need with a flexible video input module, allowing simultaneous digitization of up to four camera signals (quadro mode). In the quadro mode, images are stored in memory as four separate monochrome images in 8 bit-per-pixel format.

The flexible design of the board is based on two programmable FPGAs, containing the PCI Express interface on one chip and a complete frame grabber control circuit on the second one - complete with FIFOs, sequencers, and sync generators. These advanced building blocks facilitate plug & play operation, as well as modifications to the internal functionality of the board's hardware through a software update. Based on the modern driver structure, the adoption of new cameras is easy so that it is always possible to use the latest cameras.

The new frame grabber extends the established ELTEC PCI frame grabber family and enables the acquisition of four simultaneous, non-synchronized monochrome input signals at 25MHz/8bit using four independent ADCs. Parallel acquisition into main memory and graphics memory is supported in real-time through DMA. The new frame grabber enables the reset/restart of cameras with four separate restart inputs. Four Hirose 12-pin input connectors are used for the optimized connection of the monochrome cameras. The frame grabber supports the PCI Express (x1 -1 Lane) interface with about twice the data rate of a 32-bit PCI.

Frame grabber basic-tools are available for Windows NY/2000/XP and LINUX. For the real-time operating systems VxWorks and OS-9, ELTEC provides a reduced version where parameters are set in configuration files only and where no display routines are included. Support for 3rd-party imaging tools is available under Windows.

Pricing for the PC_EYE/ASYNC PCI Express frame grabber is approximately $1,195 in single piece quantities. Contact American ELTEC for details.
