FractureCode and DataLase Collaborate to Offer Advanced Item-Level Track and Trace System

(September 4, 2007) - DataLase, originator of the award winning DataLase® process, and FractureCode Corporation, announce they are partnering to offer item-level coding and track & trace systems for individual products. By using the DataLase process to image the award winning FractureCode track & trace technology onto individual products, the companies will be able to offer high resolution codes at high speed to customers, without the need for conventional printing processes.

FractureCode Corporation, part of Filtrona plc, is a specialist in providing and delivering innovative end-to-end coding and tracking systems. The patented FractureCode system features a unique symbology containing a unique non-sequential code and provides organizations with a secure field readable technology that enables authentication of individual products or documents containing the code.

FractureCode is traditionally generated using conventional rotary printing processes such as gravure and flexo. By using the DataLase process to digitally print the code on-line, FractureCode is able to offer an additional way of adopting their new technology. The DataLase process features a patented ink that changes colour on exposure to a low power laser during the production of products and documents. The image can be embedded into laminated materials or under the surface of plastic films creating a tamper proof result.

"We are extremely excited to be able to offer our technology to a wider audience as a result of working with DataLase," comments Jacob Gatzsche, Managing Director of FractureCode. "Our process is already extremely flexible and this will offer even more organizations access to our track and trace solution."

Trevor Wilson, VP Business Development at DataLase comments: "FractureCode is a very innovative solution for tracking products throughout the supply chain, and as such is a perfect complement to our DataLase process. We look forward to a long relationship with the company, identifying new markets and applications for this unique system."
