New Four Gas Monitor Offers One-Touch Simplicity

Crowcon launches Custodian C, a new low cost four gas monitor, which offers simplified features and easy operation via a single button. One button turns the instrument on and off and resets the alarms.

Custodian C measures combustible gas, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide, and has an internal electric pump. The unit features an auto-zero function to assure the user of correct operation upon switch on.

Like all Crowcon monitors the Custodian C has a rugged construction which is enhanced with an impact-resistant rubber boot. The Custodian C is also fully water resistant and can withstand total immersion in water for up to half an hour.

Despite its toughness, the unit weighs little more than a pound, making it comfortable to carry or wear for an entire shift.

Gas levels are displayed on a high-contrast, back-lit display, which automatically scrolls between readings. If gas is detected, a wailing multi-tone siren is triggered (producing 92 dBA at a foot), together with ultra-bright flashing LEDs which are visible over a 270 deg angle. Pressing the single button control, which is oversized to allow easy use when thick gloves are worn, resets alarms.

Both the monitor and its removable battery pack - which is secured by a steel "click-lock" mechanism - are certified intrinsically safe. Consequently the battery pack can be easily changed, even in hazardous areas if required. Unlike NiCad
batteries, the Nickel Metal Hydride pack used by Custodian C can be trickle-charged and recharged at any point without damage. A full charge will power the instrument for 12 hours.
