ARMS® (Automated Robotic Melt Shop) Systems



Automated systems, like the ARMS® System, distance the foundry worker from the furnace and its molten metal and allow you to protect your most valuable asset on the melt deck - your employees. In addition to improved worker safety, this system offers other unique benefits to foundries by reducing operating costs, improving worker recruitment and retention and greatly increasing melt efficiency as well as other efficiencies that come from automated operations.

ARMS® (Automated Robotic Melt Shop) System:
Inductotherm's new innovative ARMS® (Automated Robotic Melt Shop) System is the latest in melt shop automation. The ARMS® System is a patented concept that uses a robot to perform the full scope of hazardous operations that would otherwise be handled by a furnace operator, including: checking the metal bath grounding, dipping the thermocouple lance, slagging the furnace, taking metal samples and adding any required trim materials.

With this system, the furnace operator is moved to a control room, where he activates the pre-programmed robot and controls the movement of the furnace, charge car, and slag cart. This allows the furnace operator to be relocated away from the dangerous areas close to the furnace.
