Lincoln Electric Introduces An Advanced Foot Amptrol(R) For Consistent TIG Starts And Crater Fill
Cleveland, Ohio -- The Lincoln Electric Company introduces the Advanced Foot Amptrol(R). This amptrol, with its patent pending 'Pedal on Pedal' control, features an independent arc start/stop function that makes it easy to get consistent starts, stops and crater fill control when TIG welding. The Advanced Foot Amptrol can be used with all Lincoln TIG power sources, including new inverter models and the Precision TIG 275 and 375.
The Advanced Foot Amptrol provides a tactile 'click' that operators can hear and feel. This feedback will help operators make repeatable starts and stops at the desired minimum current. This is different from standard foot pedals that do not provide an independent tactile feel when the arc establishes or extinguishes so the operator has to constantly guess on how to consistently start or stop the weld.
Operators can use the Foot Amptrol's pedal range to control the welding amperage during welding. In addition, users can ramp back down to the set minimum current level and know that the arc will not extinguish unexpectedly until the Arc Start/Stop switch is deactivated. A 'click' will also be felt and heard when the arc extinguishes.
The new Lincoln Advanced Foot Amptrol eliminates manually overshooting the intended starting current, which means no more starting hotter than the operator wants. It also reduces the risk of melting during the arc start process - especially with thin materials. In addition, the Foot Amptrol removes the guesswork from crater fill by providing for greater control.
The unit has an adjustable heel stop which makes it easy to locate a repeatable foot position time after time. It also is easy to maneuver on the floor by just using the heel of the foot. The Advanced Foot Amptrol's wide, stable platform with an ergonomically low foot angle prevents tipping and reduces stress on the foot after long hours of welding.
The Lincoln Electric Company, Cleveland, Ohio, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of arc welding equipment and consumables, robotic welding systems, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment.
