Compact Instapak® Foam-in-Bag Packaging System: A Small System that Packs a Big Punch

Sealed Air Corporation Introduces the Instapacker(TM) Tabletop Foam-in-Bag System For Packaging Operations Where Simplicity is Vital

DANBURY, Conn. (Sept. 13, 2002) - Sealed Air Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of protective, presentation and fresh foods packaging materials and systems, has recently developed the Instapacker(TM) Tabletop foam-in-bag system. The compact Instapacker(TM) Tabletop system is an easy-to-use, versatile and cost-efficient option for producing Instapak® foam-in-bag packaging for cushioning, blocking and bracing, and void fill applications.

Compact Size Saves Space
The Instapacker(TM) Tabletop foam-in-bag system produces foam cushions with all the protective packaging benefits of those produced by its larger counterpart, the SpeedyPacker® foam-in-bag system. The Instapacker Tabletop system, however, is more compact. The smaller footprint of the Instapacker Tabletop foam-in-bag system saves valuable workspace and is excellent for packaging areas where space is at a premium.

Simple Design Saves Effort
The Instapacker Tabletop foam-in-bag packaging system is simple to operate and features an easy-to-understand control panel. The touch-key panel enables users to control the amount of Instapak® foam that is dispensed into each bag, producing cushions of varying thickness. Because there are ten different percentage amounts to choose from, operators can select the precise amount needed to protect a product without wasting foam.

Using a single roll of pre-sized, perforated bags, the Instapacker Tabletop system dispenses the selected amount of Instapake foam and seals the bag. The operator then takes the
bag of rising Instapak* foam from the system and puts it into a carton, places the item to be shipped on top of the foam bag and adds an additional rising foam bag on top, to complete the package. The simplicity of the process means that training time for operators is minimized, and overall productivity is increased.

Versatile System Saves Time
The Instapacker Tabletop foam-in-bag system can function as a stand-alone tabletop packaging system for decentralized packaging stations, or it can be positioned right next to the packaging line for higher volume applications.

For high-volume applications, the Instapacker Tabletop system can create foam cushions continuously at a rate of 16 bags per minute. When producing cushions continuously, it may be necessary to have a few extra seconds to apply the foam-in-bag cushion to the product before getting the next cushion. The Instapacker(TM) Tabletop system has a time delay option that can be set to pause between production of each foam-in-bag cushion.

The bags used with the Instapacker(TM) Tabletop foam-in-bag system are available in sizes-16 by 19 inches and 24 by 19 inches. If a larger cushion is needed, the operator can simply leave several of the bags attached to each other before removing them from the system.
