Welding Rods, Wire and Electrodes
Flux Cored Wires handle Chrome-Moly applications.
Press Release Summary:
Offering creep resistance, TM-81B2 and TM-811B2 are designed for steels containing 1¼% Chrome and ½% Molybdenum, while TM-91B3 and TM-911B3 match chemistry of steels with 2¼% Chrome and 1% Molybdenum. Used only with 100% CO2 shielding gas, TM-81B2 and TM-91B3 come in 1/16 and 3/32 in. diameters, and are suited for flat and horizontal positions. Models TM-811B2 and TM-911B3, used with Argon/CO2 mixture, have all position capabilities and are available in .045, .052, and 1/16 in.
Original Press Release:
Hobart Brothers' Low Alloy Flux Cored Wires Excel in Chrome-Moly Applications
o Excellent creep resistance and high temperature tensile strength
o Available with either all position or flat and horizontal only capabilities
TROY, Ohio. June 6, 2007 - For excellent weldability, creep resistance and high temperature tensile strength on chrome-moly applications, Hobart Brothers offers a full line of low alloy gas shielded flux cored wires. Ideal for applications such as high-pressure steam and gas piping, boiler manufacturing and certain types of castings, these wires match two common types of chrome-moly steels.
Designed for steels containing 1-1/4 percent Chrome and 1/2 percent Molybdenum (often called P-11), the TM-81B2 and TM-811B2 wires can be used as replacements for E8018-B2 Stick electrodes to increase productivity. The TM-91B3 and TM-911B3 wires match the chemistry of steels with 2 1/4 percent Chrome and 1percent Molybdenum (often referred to as P-22) and can be used to replace E9018-B3 Stick electrodes.
TM-81B2 and TM-91B3 are available for use in either the flat and horizontal position and are available in 1/16" and 3/32" diameters. These wires are ideal for very high deposition welding where out of position welding is not required. These wires should be used only with a 100 percent CO2 shielding gas.
TM-811B2 and TM-911B3 have all position capabilities and are available in .045", .052" and 1/16". These wires are ideal for pipe welding and other applications that may require out of position welding and can be used with either 100 percent CO2 or a 75/25 Argon/CO2 mixture. An Argon/CO2 mixture may produce welds with tensile strengths exceeding 100ksi, for the TM-811B2 wire, and 110ksi, for the TM-911B3 wire.
