Select-Arc Offers Two New Stainless Steel Electrodes



Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced two gas-shielded, flux cored austenitic electrodes to its stainless steel product line.

The SelectAlloy 308 electrode is intended for welding austenitic stainless steels to themselves in the flat and horizontal positions. This wire provides a smooth and stable arc with virtually no spatter and easily removable slag. SelectAlloy 308 is designed to weld types 301, 302, 304, 305 and 308 stainless steel.

SelectAlloy 308L is the low carbon equivalent of SelectAlloy 308 which makes SelectAlloy 308L more resistant to intergrannular corrosion due to carbide precipitation without the use of niobium or titanium as stabilizers. SelectAlloy 308L is well suited for welding 301, 302, 304L, 308 and 308L grades of stainless as well as types 321 and 347 (as long as service temperatures do not exceed 500 degrees F).
