Fluorothermoplastics insulate wires and cables.

Press Release Summary:

FEP 6322 and PFA X 6525 high-performance fluorothermoplastics have good melt flow index, allowing high processing speeds for wire and cable jacketing. Both enable very thin walls of up to 100 µm, are resistant to chemicals and are nonflammable. Cables insulated with fluorothermoplastic meet requirements of standards VDE 0207, Part 6 and CEI 20-51. Service temperature range is up to 205°C for model 6322 and up to 260°C for model 6525.

Original Press Release:

New Dyneon (TM) FEP 6322 And Dyneon (TM) PFA X 6525 For High-Speed Production

BURGKIRCHEN (October 25, 2001) - At K2001, the 15th International Trade Fair for the plastics and rubber industry held in Dusseldorf, Oct. 25 to Nov. 1, Dyneon is presenting new types of fluorothermoplastic raw material. With Dyneon FEP 6322 and Dyneon PFA X 6525, the company introduces two high-performance fluorothermoplastics for the wire and cable industry. Featuring an excellent melt flow index, these products enable unprecedented processing speeds for wire and cable jacketing, while providing superior electric properties.

Due to their easy-flow features, Dyneon FEP 6322 and Dyneon PFA X 6525 are substantially faster to process in cable extrusion. This enables higher cable production in shorter time, resulting in a substantial increase in efficiency - a major advantage, particularly with regard to the growing data communication market.

Dyneon PFA X 6525 and Dyneon FEP 6322 enable very thin walls of up to 100 µm, coupled with superior dielectric properties. With the Dyneon FEP product family, the loss factor in the high-frequency range is two to three times lower than with conventional products in the market. Cables insulated with Dyneon FEP 6322 meet the requirements of standards VDE 0207, Part 6 and CEI 20-51. Both Dyneon PFA X 6525 and Dyneon FEP 6322 are resistant to chemicals and are non-flammable. Dyneon FEP 6322 has a service temperature range of up to 205°C. and Dyneon PFA X 6525 up to 260°C. Both fluoropolymers are thermoplastics, which means they are melt-processable.

Dyneon is one of the world's largest fluoropolymer producers with operations or representation in more than 50 countries. Headquartered in Oakdale, Minn., the company employs more than 900 people worldwide.
