Original Press Release:

Appleton Fixture Provides Bright, Energy-Efficient Fluorescent Lighting In Wet & Damp Locations

ROSEMONT, IL, October 5, 2004 -Appleton has introduced a new line of gasketed fluorescent fixtures that provide energy-efficient, bright lighting in areas prone to high humidity and water vapor.

Offering the state-of-the-art in corrosion-resistant design, Appleton FR Series Fluorescent Luminaries are the ideal lighting solution for such locations as meat and food processing plants, dairy and drug plants, breweries, car washes, laundries and parking garages. And because the fixtures are fluorescent, they are substantially less expensive to operate than comparable mercury vapor or incandescent lighting.

ABS Thermoplastic construction greatly improves the durability of FR Series Luminaries, and makes the fixture exceptionally resistant to impact and corrosion. The smooth, seamless, one-piece lens has a unique stipple surface that virtually eliminates annoying glare. Another key attribute to the fixture's success is the lack of crevices or open seams. The result is that there is no place on the fixture that can hold dirt or moisture, plus there is no paint to chip, and nothing to rust or corrode.

The fixtures have a compressible polyurethane gasket that is precision bonded to the housing. With the six captive plastic latches closed, the gasket works as a continuous tight seal that keeps out harmful elements such as dirt, vapor or moisture.

To simplify installation and servicing, FR Series components are mounted on a removable steel wireway cover that is supported by internal safety hinges. Installation options include ceiling and hook & chain, and surface end-to-end mounting. The corrosion-resistance design permits faster, easier wash-downs.

Appleton FR Series Fluorescent Luminaries operate safety in 100°F ambient temperature areas, and can be used indoors, or outdoors in protected locations. They comply with UL Standard 1570 making them suitable for wet locations. They are available with ballasts to support T12 and T8 lamps in most voltage and frequency combinations.
