Fluid Cell Press targets aerospace industry suppliers.

Press Release Summary:

Flexform Model QFC 1x2-800 intermediate sized sheet metal forming press offers cycle times that average to less than 3 min. Sheet metal blanks are formed over single, shape defining tool half by flexible rubber diaphragm under uniform hydrostatic pressure. Multiple tool halves and blanks are placed in dual 1 x 2 m trays which shuttle in and out of press frame containing pressurized diaphragm. Pressures up to 11,600 psi ensure close tolerance parts from press.

Avure Introduces New Fluid Cell Press Specifically Designed for Aerospace Industry Suppliers

EuroBLECH, HANOVER, Germany, Oct. 24 // -- Avure Technologies, Inc., the global leader in high pressure technology today announces a new model Flexform(TM) press. The Flexform Model QFC 1x2-800 is an intermediate sized sheet metal forming press developed specifically to meet the needs of component suppliers to the aerospace industry. It is designed to help these companies become more globally competitive through significantly lower tooling costs, fast prototyping, shorter part lead times, forming of complex shapes, single shot production to close tolerances and quick tool change-out for short run flexibility.

Larger Flexform presses have been used for years by major airframe manufacturers, many of whom are now dealing with growing demand by outsourcing a greater portion of their metal parts fabrication. The new QFC 1x2-800 provides tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers with the same high pressure forming technology at a significantly lower capital investment.

The Flexform concept is uncomplicated: sheet metal blanks are formed over a single rigid, shape defining tool half by a flexible rubber diaphragm under very high, uniform hydrostatic pressure.

Multiple tool halves and blanks are freely placed in dual 1 x 2 meter trays which shuttle in and out of the press frame containing the pressurized diaphragm. The process results in scratch-free parts regardless of the sheet thickness or complexity of the tool, including undercuts. Pressures up to 80 MPa (11,600 psi) ensure close tolerance parts direct from the press with little or no secondary work required. It is also possible to form and trim in a single operation. Formed parts can include small shallow components, large panels, and complex deep-drawn shapes. Cycle times average less than three minutes.

Avure Flexform presses are used to provide production and prototype parts to the biggest brand names in Aerospace and Automotive including Airbus, Boeing, British Aerospace, Cessna, Eclipse Aviation, DailmerChrysler, Ford, Maybach, SAAB and Volvo.
