New Flue Gas Analyzer from Michell Saves Installation and Maintenance Costs with Innovative Design

Michell Instrument's XZR-500 flue gas analyzer reduces installation and operating costs with its innovative Metallic Sealed Reference Sensor (MSRS). Operating reliably at temperatures up to 1500°C, the analyzer's semi-in-situ design makes it easy to install, simple to operate and economical to maintain.

Ideal for applications including boiler combustion efficiency and industrial waste incinerators, the XZR-500 provides the speed of response and simplicity of installation of an in-situ analyzer, combined with the longer sensor life of an ex-situ analyzer.

With its MSRS sensor, the XZR-500 operates effectively at temperatures significantly higher than other technologies and may be installed close to the radiation zone. Taking the measurement in this high-temperature location gives reliably accurate readings. Ambient air leakage can contaminate the sample gas at installation locations further downstream, resulting in false readings.

MSRS technology is based on a sealed metallic reference allowing air to be used as a calibration gas. The design reduces installation and maintenance costs. If sensor replacement is needed, it can be performed within minutes without interrupting the process.

The rugged design of the MSRS sensor cell further reduces cost of ownership. The XZR-500 oxygen analyzer has an extremely long life span compared to conventional zirconia-based analyzers. When operated in extremely dirty applications, such as coal-fired power stations, the robust MSRS cell of the XZR-500 can be combined with a particle blow-back mechanism to maximize reliability.
