New FM-Approved FT2 Flowmeter Suitable for Harsh Industrial Environments
Marina, Calif. - March 15, 2007 - Fox Thermal Instruments announced today the introduction of their FM and FMcapproved FT2 Thermal Gas Mass Flowmeter and Temperature Transmitter. The instrument is FM and FMc approved for Class I, II, III, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, T4A hazardous locations, NEMA 4X and CE approved. The FMc mark is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and carries the same authority as the CSA mark.
The FOX Model FT2 provides smart, real-time measurement of two important process variables and supports a wide range of communication protocols, including RS422/RS485-Modbus, ProfibusDP, DeviceNet and Ethernet. The instrument directly measures mass flow rate of air and gases, and provides isolated 4-20 mA and pulse outputs for flow rate, as well as a 4-20 mA output for process gas temperature.
Mass flow rate and totalized flow, elapsed time, process gas temperature and alarms are displayed on the meter's 2 x 16 character backlit display. The display is also used in conjunction with the instrument's configuration panel to program flow and temperature settings, pulse output scaling, pipe area, zero flow cutoff, filtering, diagnostics and alarm limits.
Convenient FT2 View(TM) Software allows users to change meter configuration, collect process data or view measurements from a PC or control station. A Palm PDA interface provides similar functionality, and is ideal for "walkaround" monitoring of process conditions.
The Model FT2 is available in both insertion-type and inline configurations (from ¼-inch to 6-inch sizes) with built-in flow conditioning elements to reduce the need for long, straight pipe runs. Wetted materials are 316 stainless steel standard or optional Hastelloy C-276. A variety of input power, output signal, electronics enclosures, display and process connection options are available.
