New Flow Transmitter from Flow Line Options Used for Liquid, Gas and Steam Metering

Flow Line Options new MEMFlo MFT transmitter provides flow rate, total and two-wire analog outputs, and works with most of the company's flowmeters. It is being used for steam, gas and liquid flow measurement of water, brine, and even liquid chlorine.

Cleveland, OH - November 20, 2008 -- Flow Line Options Corp. has released the new MEMFlo MFT flow transmitter (http://flowlineoptions.com/MEMFlo/MFT-flow-transmitter.html) for flow rate and total display and two-wire analog output. The MFT is a non-contacting flow transmitter that mounts directly on most MEMFlo flow meter models. The electronics are completely isolated from the process to provide a nearly maintenance-free flow metering system. The MFT transmitter combines the newest electronics capabilities to the 30 years of MEMFlo meter technology.

Applications to date for the new system have included flow metering of steam, gas, water, sewage, brine, and even liquid chlorine. Brine water measurement has been a notable application success, as the MEMFlo meter does not require straight lengths of pipe to measure flow accurately.

Energy companies in the Texas Panhandle are using Flo-Corp's MFT transmitter to measure brine. One of the central processes of recovering oil from the ground is separating the oil from brine or salt water. Once the brine is lifted from the oil, it's stored in settling tanks and after treatment, injected back into the ground. Oil companies are finding the new MFT to be the ideal flow transmitter for this application due to its large measuring range and its compact design.

Velocity flow transmitters have been tried and failed due to the low flow metering that is required of the application, and the fact that there is no room on oil platforms for the required straight runs of pipe. The operator of one oil lease said, "the MEMFlo flow meter mounting is an easy, low cost of installation, and its accuracy gives us reliable flow totals of brine consumption."

The new MFT flow meter transmitter works with MEMFlo meters ranging from 3/4 through 4 inch pipe sizes in a wide variety of materials and flow ranges. Complete details are offered at www.flowlineoptions.com.
