Thermal Dispersion Flow Switch Provides Flow Detection and Switching from 1 to 90 fps
LOS ALAMITOS, CA (April 30, 2002) - Flowline's GT10 Thermo-Flo(TM) Gas Flow Switch is a reliable solution for filter and process protection. The flow switch setpoint may be adjusted from 1 to 90 fps (0.3 to 27 mps) and is an excellent choice for a wide range of relatively clean, non-coating, low and medium temperature gases. The switch setpoint can be easily changed with the single-turn adjustment knob. In addition, the knob doubles as an LED indicator, providing users with a flow or no-flow status indication of the media. Media examples include air, chlorine gas, nitrogen gas and process exhaust fumes. Abnormally high flow velocities will not damage the sensor. Flow switch response time is 1 to 10 seconds.
The flow switch measures gas temperatures to determine changes in flow velocity. As gas flows across the sensing tip, the measured temperature is reduced proportionally as a function of the flow rate. When the velocity shift reaches the user-defined setpoint, the switch changes state, indicating the appropriate flow condition.
The relay or FET output provides an ideal switch interface with such remote devices as a PLC, SCADA or alarm. Available in two probe lengths for maximum installation flexibility, the short version is intended for use in ducting sizes from 1/2" to 1-1/2", while the longer version is applied from 2" up.
All-plastic sensor construction is either PP/Ryton® or PVDF. material. Sensor rating is NEMA 4X (IP65). Cable choices are either an 8 ft. (2.5 m) 4-wire (relay) or 3-wire (FET), 22 gauge with ground, shield and PP or PFA jacket. Abnormally high flow velocities will not damage the sensor.
