Low Cost Thermal Mass Flow/Level Switch Series Now Services All Industrial Applications

Chicago, IL-October 21, 2002-Now all the performance and reliability advantages of FCI's no-moving parts thermal mass flow sensor technology are available for the first time in an economical instrument package designed for all industrial applications: Introducing the breakthrough NuTec® Series FS2000 Flow Switch and LS2000 Level Switch.

The NuTec® Series Flow and Level Switch products are FCI's first thermal mass switches designed with two-wire 4-20mA loop power. Using 24 Vdc input power, the innovative NuTec® design enables retrofitting of existing two-wire "failure prone" mechanical float and paddle switches without any wiring modifications. An optional alarm with SPDT 6 amp relay and input power of 85-265 Vac, 24 Vdc or 24 Vac is also now available.

Highly accurate and responsive in gas, air, hydrocarbons or water, the versatile FS2000 and LS2000 feature FCI's rugged no-clog thermal type sensor element. This sensor offers both precision and extended service life at an attractive low cost. With easy set-up and almost no maintenance required, the FS2000 and LS2000 greatly reduce the total cost of flow instrumentation ownership.

The FS2000 Flow and LS2000 Level Switches support a wide range of critical plant applications in many industries: chemical, electric power, oil & gas, pulp & paper, steel, wastewater treatment and more. These switches support flow/level applications for pump protection, seal leak detection, lubricant and chemical injection, analyzers, sampling systems, HVAC systems, plant service gas and water lines, tank level, sump level, foam interface, overflow detection and more.

Construction is 304/305 Stainless Steel with a 0.25-inch male NPT process connection that can service lines as small as ¼ inch. All welded construction with 316L Stainless Steel and a 0.75 inch male NPT process connection is available as an option for heavy-duty applications. Enclosures are standard NEMA Type 4X for hazardous locations Groups C & D (IP55) and optional NEMA Type 7 for hazardous locations Groups B, C, D, E, F and G (IP66). FM, CSA, CRN, ATEX with CE Mark agency approvals are complete or pending.

Model FS2000 Flow Switch
The NuTec® Model FS2000 Flow Switch supports applications in water from 0.1 to 1.5 fps [0.03 to 0.45 mps, in hydrocarbons from 0.1 to 2.0 fps [0.03 to 0.60 mps, and in air/gas from 0.5 to 100 sfps [0.15 to 30 nmps. Highly repeatable and responsive, the FS2000 features a repeatability of +1% of setpoint range and a response time as low as 0.5 seconds.

Model LS2000 Level Switch
The NuTec® Model LS2000 Level Switch features an accuracy of +0.25 inch and +0.125 inch when installed in the top or side of a vessel, respectively. It is highly responsive, reacting to wet media in less than one second. It is designed for service in a wide range of fluid wet/dry applications, including foam.

The LS 2000 operates at temperatures ranging from -40 to +250F [-40 to +121C and at operating pressures up to 500 psig [35 bar (g).
