Flow Dynamics Expands Flow Laboratory to Provide COX Flow Meter Calibrations

NVLAP®-certified meter calibrations are fully traceable to NIST

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 9, 2008 - Flow Dynamics, Inc. a leading provider of primary standard, NIST-traceable calibrations for all types of flow meters, has expanded its Scottsdale, Ariz., flow laboratory capability in order to provide calibrations for all COX Instruments turbine flow meters.

The Flow Dynamics lab recently added a new 300 GPM positive displacement primary standard calibrator (PDCL) that increased its calibration capacity throughput. The facility plans to install an additional PDCL calibrator later this year.

Flow Dynamics was the first independent flow calibration laboratory to receive prestigious National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP®) accreditation from the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) in conformance with the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

COX Instruments provides precision turbine flow meters to customers with demanding liquid and gas flow metering requirements. COX turbine meters provide a mechanical linearity from 15:1 on ½" meters and up to 100:1 on 2" meters, without the use of linearizing electronics. The precision line of flow meters achieves ±0.02% repeatability, with a combined accuracy of ±0.25% of reading. The helical rotor provides a fast response time of 2-3 milliseconds in MIL-C-7024C fluid.

All calibrations of COX turbine flow meters, performed by Flow Dynamics' NVLAP® facility, are fully traceable to NIST guidelines and comply with ISO 17025, ISO 9002, ISO Guide 25, ANSI/NCSL Z-540, and MIL-STD-45662A.

About Flow Dynamics
Located in Scottsdale, Arizona USA, Flow Dynamics' 32,000 square foot facility was specially designed to accommodate high flow capacity calibration equipment. Having a large 100 cubic-foot Primary Standard Bell Prover, which supplies 1,500 SCFM, makes FDI unique in its gas calibration capability. FDI also owns and operates a 1,250 GPM Primary Standard Positive Displacement Liquid Calibrator to accommodate large meters. The company's calibrators provide ranges from 0.001 to 1500 SCFM air with the ability to run a variety of gases up to 300 SCFM and use correlation/simulation for more hazardous gases up to 1500 SCFM. Additionally, it provides secondary sonic nozzle banks, which deliver up to 3,000 SCFM. Liquid calibrations range from 0.0025 to 1,250 GPM in hydrocarbon blends.

With 17 different primary standard liquid and gas displacement flow calibrators, Flow Dynamics can calibrate a wide variety of fluids and flow ranges. No other calibration facility offers a more complete calibration solution for today's flowmeter user. Learn more at www.flow-dynamics.com.
