New Thomas & Betts Recessed Floor Box Allows Lid to Close with Plugged-In Cords
MEMPHIS, Tenn., – The Steel City® Residential Floor Box, new from Thomas & Betts (T&B), is a single-gang, recessed floor box for wood subfloors that conceals outlets and plugs while in use.
The recessed floor box, designed for single- and multi-family housing, also allows the lid to be closed, even when the cords are plugged in.
The Steel City single-gang, recessed residential floor box is a cost-effective solution for power, voice or data connections in open-space areas that features a drop-in design for quick, one-step mounting to wood floors. The kit also includes installation instructions with a template for the floor opening.
“We developed the Steel City Residential Floor Box to conceal connections to service lighting, entertainment equipment and computers while still in use,” Ralph Donati, product marketing director at T&B, said. “In addition to being able to close the lid while cords are plugged in, the recessed floor box features a flip-up handle to open the cover without tools.”
The Steel City Residential Floor Box includes a die-cast cover that is available with a brass or nickel-plated finish. It is UL/CSA approved as a 15A, 125V tamper-resistant receptacle.
