Floating Panel Fasteners correct off-angle installations.

Press Release Summary:

Incorporating MAThread® anti cross-threading captive screw technology, PEM® floating access fasteners compensate for up to .060 in. mating thread misalignment. Type PF11MW with knurled cap meets operator access area requirements similar to UL 508, while PF12MW with smooth cap meets service access area requirements similar to UL 1950. With #4-40 to ¼-20 and M3 to M6 thread sizes, they suit close centerline-to-edge applications and can be installed on painted surfaces without marring.

Original Press Release:

PEM® Floating Access Hardware Compensates for Mating Thread Misalignment

New PEM® floating access hardware introduces a captive screw assembly for permanent installation into panels of any hardness with the capability to compensate for up to .060"/1.52mm mating thread misalignment. The licensed MAThread® anti cross-threading screw technology adds value by correcting off-angle installations and reliably aligning components.

These floating panel fasteners (Type PF11MW with knurled cap and Type PF12MW with smooth cap) enable subsequent access to an assembly. Type PF11MW meets "operator access area" requirements similar to UL 508 and Type PF12MW meets "service access area" requirements similar to UL 1950. Universal slot/Phillips recess is standard.

They ideally suit close centerline-to-edge applications and can be installed on painted surfaces without marring. Installation requires only minimal squeezing force with punch and anvil to flare their retainer. An exclusive shoulder on the retainer provides a positive stop. The anti cross-thread feature contributes to quick installation by aligning thread helixes for easy driving of fasteners with reduced effort.

Thread sizes range from #4-40 through ¼-20 and M3 through M6. Fasteners are supplied with mating washers. Available options include a scratch-proof DuraBlack(TM) finish.
Detailed specifications (Bulletin PF11MW) and free part drawings (PEM CAD Library) for these RoHS-compliant fasteners can be accessed at www.pemnet.com
