Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Introduces Flexible, Translucent Tubing for Milking Equipment

AURORA, Ohio — The Process Systems business unit of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has expanded its Tygon® product portfolio to include Tygon® II, a durable tubing product that helps to protect product integrity in milking applications.

For dairy processors, hygiene is one of the most important considerations in maintaining product quality and safety, as well as regulatory compliance. Unclean milking systems foster bacteria growth, which can lead to contamination and milk products with limited shelf life — not to mention potentially harmful implications for consumers.

One of the most crucial components in maintaining the integrity of a finished product is proper tubing selection, as it is used to transport milk throughout various phases of the milking process.

Saint Gobain’s Tygon II is a high-quality silicone tubing designed specifically to meet and exceed the dairy market’s needs. The tubing is engineered with a smooth surface and inner bore that resists sticking, encrustation and bacteria growth, while reducing the potential for particle entrapment. Also, Tygon II does not contain plasticizers or other additives and byproducts that can leach into milk and cause toxicological issues.

Additionally, Tygon II tubing provides flexibility for hot and cold temperatures, along with durability for long and reliable service. It also offers resistance to kinking and tearing, as well as reduced tackiness.

Because of its advanced curing mechanism, Tygon® II’s consistency is very high and more translucent than alternative silicone tubing offerings in the marketplace.

Further, Saint Gobain’s Tygon II tubing is compliant with global food safety regulations set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600), 3-A Sanitary Standards, European Union (EU Regulation 1935/2004) and China (GB4806.I-94), among others.
