Hamlin Launches Flexible Reed Switch

Hamlin, One of the pioneers of reed switch technology, has added a new product to its comprehensive range of switches. The FLEX-14 has been developed specifically for customers that build products using reed switch technology but wish to form the switch leads by hand. Generally reed switch manufacturers recommend that their customers use automated forming equipment especially designed for this purpose or allow the switch manufacturer to do it for them. Incorrect forming methods can result in damage being caused to the reed switch's glass to metal seal which destroys the product.

Customers in Asia prefer this method of hand forming to an automated process. The new switch has a glass length of 14mm and a longer lead length than most other switches in the range, allowing greater flexibility in the switch design-in process. All of these features combined with competitive pricing make this product very well suited to the any market where reed switches are used in very high volumes such as in level sensors, security products, relays and position sensors.

Marcel Briers, Global Director of Sales and Marketing for Hamlin said "We have been working on the development of this switch for some time as we felt that the market needed a switch with these features manufactured by Hamlin. We have been sampling the FLEX-14 to customers for a few weeks and the feedback that we are getting from this is very encouraging"
