Original Press Release:

ERIFLEX® FLEXIBAR is a Flexible Insulated Busbar Product that Features a Smaller Bend Radius and Cooler Connections

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SOLON, Ohio, September, 2004 -- ERIFLEX® FLEXIBAR from ERICO®, Inc. is an exceptional conductor that consists of a stack of electrolytic copper laminates (99.9% copper) protected within durable PVC insulation. The internal copper laminates are free to slide within the insulation, offering unlimited twisting and bending possibilities and making panelboard, switchboard and motor control center assembly easier. Users create terminals by stripping the insulation and punching the laminates, thus saving money on the cost of lugs and associated labor. Since the product still terminates like a busbar, connections operate at an accordingly lower temperature.

Maximum continuous voltage for the product is 1,000 volts AC. It is UL recognized for 600 volts maximum and CSA certified for 1,000 volts maximum. ERIFLEX FLEXIBAR meets all of the requirements of IEC 439-1, has an approval certificate on shipboard installation and maintenance requirements from Bureau Veritas and maintains an Attestation of Conformity from CETE APAVE Lyonnaise.

ERICO can provide preformed ERIFLEX FLEXIBAR configurations to your drawing specifications. It can be cut, punched, twisted or bent to address your most challenging panelboard designs and production scheduling requirements.

Additional features of ERIFLEX FLEXIBAR include:
· Space savings -- Smaller bend radius than equivalent cable and closer spacing than bare busbar
· Labor saving -- Easier to bend than equivalent cable and fewer connection points than either cable & lug or solid busbar
· Improved reliability -- Cooler connections with direct bolted, lower voltage drop terminal to terminal and no danger of pullout in fault conditions
· Improved aesthetics -- Panel layout is less congested
· Material cost savings -- No lugs or connectors required; shorter runs due to smaller bend radius
