Flexible Control Cables suit confined areas.

Press Release Summary:

L-FLEXX 290 Cables snake through tight curves during installation. Finely stranded bare copper conductors, combined with talc lubricant dispersed between conductors, allow for tight bend radius. Rated for 600 V/90°C, cables are protected by PVC jackets. They contain no silicone, mercury, chromium, lead, or cadmium making them resistant against mineral and/or synthetic oils, and water-based coolants and cleaning solvents. Unshielded and shielded versions are available.

Original Press Release:

New: Leoni L-FLEXX 290 - Flexible Control Cables for Confined Areas

Fairfield, NJ, June 2003 - LEONI Tailor-Made Cable (LTMC) is adding a new series of in-stock control cables to its North American product range - the LEONI L-FLEXX 290 cables. These cables can snake through a maze of tight curves and turns during installation in the most confined areas. They provide superior long-term reliability for fixed installations in harsh industrial environments. Available in unshielded and shielded versions, LTMC's new flexible control cables can be ordered in different AWG sizes and with a number of conductors.

Finely stranded bare copper conductors, combined with talc lubricant dispersed between the conductors, allow for a tight bend radius - and ultimately the cable's curvy performance.
The diameter-reduced cables can withstand a bend radius as small as four times the outside diameter. Rated for 600 Volt/90°C, L-FLEXX 290 cables are totally protected by specially formulated PVC jackets. Containing no silicone, mercury, chromium, lead or cadmium, LTMC's new 290 cables are fully resistant against mineral and/or synthetic oils, and water-based coolants and cleaning solvents. Coming with UL, CSA and CE approvals, L-FLEXX 290 cables are ready for use around the world.

Main applications for the new LEONI L-FLEXX 290 line include industrial machinery, factory automation and drive systems, material handling, machine tool and injection molding
equipment, semiconductor and pharmaceutical processing, data processing and control systems, aerial and scissor lifts, construction equipment as well as bottling and packaging technology.

LTMC's new line of ready-to-install control cables perfectly complements the cablemaker's L-FLEXX 690 series launched last fall for high-flex applications. The halogen-free, small
diameter PUR (polyurethane)-jacketed L-FLEXX 690 cables come with an extremely tight bend radius (5Xd). They are rated for up to 18 million flex cycles. For industrial applications involving
stationary and high-flex operations, LEONI offers the best of both worlds - a combination of PVC and PUR jacketed control cables, which ultimately results in cost savings for the customer.

While the new L-FLEXX 290 cables offer performance at a rock-bottom price, the PUR jacketed L-FLEXX 690 series are put to work where continuous flexing is mandatory - i.e. in high-speed
cable tracks. In typical industrial applications, the average ratio between cables needed for high-flex and stationary performance stands at 3 to 1.

The development of both L-FLEXX series - the 690 and the new 290 line - is backed by LEONI's worldwide expertise of designing and building more than 25,000 customized cabling solutions for a wide range of industries and applications. LTMC's L-FLEXX 290 and L-FLEXX 690 cables are available instantly from stock. Customized cable solutions can be designed and built by LEONI TMC with lead times of 3 to six weeks and at minimum orders as little as 300 ft.

Founded in 1917, LEONI is a key player on the international market in the production of cables, wire and wiring harnesses. About 40 percent of LEONI's total revenue of approx. US$ 1.1 billion is cable-related with a growing portion of tailor-made designs.
