Press Release Summary:
With tensile elongation of 130-140%, Flex Welder(TM) structural methacrylate adhesive fills gaps up to 3/8 in. and bonds plastics, composites, and metals in applications involving flexing, shock, or vibration. Room-temperature-cure adhesive provides load-bearing bonds that withstand impact, weathering, humidity, and temperature variations up to 250°F. With mixed viscosity of 70,000 cps, thixotropic gel will not run, drip, or sag on vertical or inverted surfaces.
Original Press Release:
Structural Adhesive Offers Exceptional Flexibility and Toughness
DANVERS, MA - Ideal for assemblies subject to stress, Flex Welder(TM) high-performance adhesive from Devcon has been reformulated for increased toughness and even greater flexibility. Offering superior tensile elongation (130-140%), this structural methacrylate adhesive fills gaps up to 3/8" and bonds plastics, composites, and metals in applications involving flexing, shock, or vibration. Flex Welder requires minimal surface preparation and cures rapidly at room temperature to load-bearing bonds that withstand impact, weathering, humidity, and wide variations in temperature up to 250°F.
Flex Welder has a working time of 8-10 minutes and is recommended especially for bonding nylon and its alloys, modified polyesters, epoxy composites, standard plastics, and other flexible or semi-flexible substrates. Mixed as dispensed (in a 1:1 ratio) with manual or pneumatic dispensing guns, Flex Welder is a thixotropic gel (70,000 cps mixed viscosity) which will not run, drip, or sag on vertical or inverted surfaces. With a functional cure time of 4 hours or less, it can be sanded and painted within 1 hour of application.
Environmentally friendly, Flex Welder has very low VOC emissions and is fully recyclable. It is available in both a 47-ml cartridge and a 10-gallon kit.
