Networkcar Introduces DataConnect Service

New service provides fleets the ability to integrate and stream vehicle and GPS data into software applications

SAN DIEGO, April 20 / -- Networkcar®, a Reynolds and Reynolds company (NYSE:REY) specializing in remotely monitoring vehicle location and diagnostics, today announced the availability of the DataConnect service for its Networkfleet(TM) wireless vehicle management system. This new service enables sharing of Networkfleet vehicle and GPS data with a third-party application in near real-time.

The DataConnect service enhances the current Networkfleet product by enabling fleets and independent software vendors (ISVs) to take advantage of Networkfleet data by creating integrated solutions to solve a variety of business needs:

o Routing/Dispatching -- By integrating Networkfleet GPS data into
routing/dispatching applications, fleet managers can pinpoint current
vehicle locations and efficiently route drivers.
o Geographic Information Systems (GIS) -- Access to Networkfleet GPS data
in GIS applications allows fleet managers to easily pinpoint the
nearest vehicle to a customer location on a map and improve response
times.
o Fleet Management and Asset Management -- Networkfleet diagnostics data
integrated into fleet and asset management applications enables fleet
managers to schedule immediate repair or maintenance of a vehicle the
instant a diagnostic trouble code is triggered.

"We have seen increasing demand by our enterprise customers for data integration. With our DataConnect service, fleets can leverage synergies from the combination of Networkfleet's vehicle data and third-party application data empowering better decision-making," said Paul Washicko, president of Networkcar.

Networkcar's DataConnect service is designed to be efficient, secure and scalable in the transfer of vehicle and GPS data. The service provides Networkfleet customers the option to subscribe to this enhanced service to transfer data to a third-party server.

In addition, the service allows for customization including the selection of various message types such as location or vehicle diagnostics data. Examples of the data provided by the service include mileage, GPS location, idle-time, fuel consumed, trouble codes and vehicle speed. Data is transmitted to the client's application with minimum latency, using industry standard HTTP protocol and XML. The DataConnect service also features data encryption to ensure a high level of security.

Networkfleet collects and organizes detailed location and performance information directly from a vehicle's engine computer and a global positioning system (GPS). This information is then transmitted wirelessly from the vehicle to a network operation center and is made available online for fleets to monitor such items as current location, fuel consumption, mileage, emission status and speed. With Networkfleet, this data can be accessed and shared by multiple departments from any Internet-enabled computer, 24/7.
