Original Press Release:

Screen Develops UV Flatbed Printer for Industrial Inkjet Printing

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. - The future potential of inkjet technology is limitless. Inkjet printing is well-established in short-run and variable data applications. In addition, improvements in inkjet-based processes offer great drop placement accuracy demanded by industrial applications.

Screen developed the Truepress Jet650UV flatbed inkjet printer specifically for the industrial market. The printer allows users during the production process to print only the specified number of copies at the required time.

The Truepress Jet650UV has a bed size of 25.5 x 23.6 inches and a maximum output area of 25.3 x 23.3 inches. It prints directly onto media up to 1.9 inches thick.

The linear motion drive for the print head enables the Truepress Jet650UV to deliver the highest productivity for industrial use. The printer is capable of production speeds up to 201 square inches per minute.

With the peak output resolution of 2,400 dpi x 2,400 dpi, the Truepress Jet650UV is the ideal choice for full-color, high-precision printing. The multi-value piezo drop-on-demand print heads produce subtle gradations and vivid color. The final quality is almost photographic in impact.

The printing device never comes into contact with the substrate, so the Truepress Jet650UV can print on a wide variety of materials and products. Additionally, the UV-curable inkjet inks adhere to virtually any rigid or flexible substrate, including coated and uncoated paper, plastics, textiles, wood, glass and ceramic tiles.

The Truepress Jet650UV comes standard with cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink units. A white ink unit can be optionally added to enhance full-color reproduction.

Built-in maintenance functions eliminate many problems associated with conventional inkjet printers in the past. The misfire check function and non-contact wiping function help ensure consistent print quality. Another standard function prevents heat from the UV light source from causing undesirable distortion on resin-coated paper.

A dedicated CCD camera reads register marks and automatically adjusts the alignment of the printing material. Microscopic angle adjustment of the printing material maintains superior precision even when printing on both sides of transparent media or applying inkjet printing over silkscreen printing.

Screen (USA) will provide print samples and further details about the Truepress Jet650UV at SGIA '07, October 24-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. For more information, visit Screen booth #156.
