Netlist Expands Industrial-Grade, Flash Storage Product Family

Offering quality, reliability and endurance to OEMs, Netlist's PC Card affords significant increases in sustained read and write performance over competing solutions

IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 10 -- Netlist, Inc. (NASDAQ:NLST), a leading supplier of highly customized memory subsystem solutions to the server, high performance computing and telecommunications applications, today announced the release of its Industrial-Grade PC Storage Card. The second in Netlist's series of solid-state solutions for the Industrial Flash market, Netlist's PC Card is a Type II solution that performs the same function as a hard disk drive and is designed for mission-critical applications requiring the highest levels in data integrity including telecommunications, voting, and military systems. Building on the success of its recently introduced Industrial-Grade CompactFlash(R) (CF) Storage Card, Netlist is focused on providing a complete product family of high-performance, reliable Flash solutions for the industrial market and will continue to offer customers additional devices in the coming year.

Featuring a controlled Bill-of-Materials (BOM) and 64MB to 16GB densities of nonvolatile storage, the PC Card demonstrates Netlist's commitment to its Flash division and the delivery of an ever-expanding solid state solution portfolio. According to in-house benchmarking tests and ongoing OEM evaluations, the PC Card provides a sustained read performance increase of 10 percent and a sustained write performance increase of 100 percent when compared to other single-channel PC Card solutions. Differentiating itself from competitors' 8-bit microcontroller offerings that fail to offer the same performance capabilities, Netlist's PC Card utilizes a 32-bit RISC processor, which incorporates a state-of-the art ECC engine and wear-leveling algorithm that results in compelling performance improvements.

"The growing industrial market for Flash memory has stringent requirements that consumer-oriented vendors cannot fully address. As an approved supplier to demanding tier one OEMs in the computing industry, Netlist has developed a multi-faceted program to ensure that its Flash modules provide the robustness that industrial users require for maximum reliability," said Jon Dobson, director of the Flash Business Unit for Netlist. "We've leveraged our experience, design expertise, partnerships and manufacturing capabilities to deliver this new Industrial-Grade PC Card in an effort to satisfy OEMs needs for consistent BOMs and a long-term supply source for Flash modules. The availability of this solid-state device demonstrates Netlist's commitment to meeting the critical demands of the industrial user with best-in-class performance and uncompromising product quality."

Ideally suited for high-performance applications and very high densities, the PC Card features the latest Single Level Cell (SLC) NAND flash architecture and allows for a controlled BOM to support full product traceability. Netlist's PC Card is able to support a wide range of temperatures and is manufactured with industrial temperature range components. Temperature support capabilities for Commercial temperatures range from 0 to 70 degrees C, while Industrial temperatures range from -40 degrees to +85 degrees C.
