Flap Discs suit light-pressure applications.

Press Release Summary:

Z-Stainless flap discs offer zirconia alumina concentration with aluminum oxide blend. Discs' third layer, resin grinding aid, contains lubricants and allows zirconia to break down to reduce heat on stainless steel and heat-sensitive materials. Resin bond withstands temperatures generated when using coated abrasives at speeds of 16,000 surface fpm. Offered in Type 27 and 29, available sizes are 4, 4½, 5, and 7 in. Available grits include 40, 60, and 80.

Camel Offers Z-Stainless Flap Discs For Use On Stainless Steel and Heat-Sensitive Materials

NILES, IL - November 2002 - Z-Stainless flap discs are now available from Camel Grinding Wheels, USA, a leading manufacturer of grinding wheels, flap discs and other abrasive grinding materials. The American-made flap discs are designed for light-pressure applications, especially on stainless steel and other heat-sensitive alloys.

Z-Stainless flap discs feature a high zirconia alumina concentration with a premium aluminum oxide blend. The mix provides sharper cutting action and longer disc life. The discs also have a third layer of "resin grinding aid" that contains lubricants. This layer allows the zirconia to break down to better reduce the heat on stainless steel and other heat-sensitive materials.

The products superior resin bond was developed especially for flap discs. It is designed to withstand the high temperatures generated when using coated abrasives at speeds of 16,000 surface feet per minute (SFPM). The resin bond also provides longer grain retention, better stock removal and longer disc life.

The flap disc's X-weight, water-resistant, polyester cloth backing is high in strength with minimal stretch. It enhances grain retention because it is tougher than the regular cotton cloth backings that are traditionally used on zirconia flap discs.

Recommended applications for the Z-Stainless flap discs include: rough grinding and finishing, intermediate grinding and finishing of welds, deburring, deflashing, rust removal, snagging, surface finishing, cleaning, blending and stock removal. The flap discs do the combined work of both grinding wheels and fiber discs.

Z-Stainless flap discs are offered in Type 27 and Type 29 regular style. Available sizes are 4", 4-1/2", 5" and 7". Available grits are 40, 60 and 80. The discs are shipped 10 to a box.
