Flame Detector employs built-in optical testing.

Press Release Summary:

X3301 triple infrared optical flame detectors automatically provide high-speed identification of all possible fault conditions and potential failure modes. Detector evaluates calibrated optical test parameters and compares value to detection range. Self-testing device evaluates actual flame detection performance of entire detector, including testing each sensor once per min, without need for torch-based test.

Original Press Release:

Flame detector's built-in testing automatically ensures optical integrity

Minneapolis, MN. Enhanced optical integrity testing built into Det-Tronics X3301 triple infrared optical flame detectors automatically provides high-speed identification of all possible fault conditions, leaving no undisclosed and potentially failure modes, to give the most complete assurance of fully efficient operation to factory calibrated levels at all times.

This self-testing device is said to be 'unique' in evaluating actual flame detection performance of the entire detector, including testing each sensor once per minute and generating a fault with three consecutive failures, without the need for a torch-based test.

It is combined with detector's unitised multi-spectrum operation giving virtual immunity to traditional false alarm sources despite its very high detection sensitivity. A single device can replace the multiple detectors normally required for fail-safe cover of a given area, providing a complete fire solution in many applications including offshore platforms and oil refineries.

The detector evaluates the calibrated optical test parameters and compares the value to the detection range. Each sensor's present sensitivity level is compared to other sensors' values to generate a fault for any over-sensitivity drift as well as loss.

Test check time speed and fault generation levels are also now adjustable, allowing higher settings for improved integrity monitoring under conditions of extensive rain and airborne water mist. Manual testing can also be performed on site to verify calibration at any time.

Heated optics also break the cohesion bond of ice or snow to resume optimal performance levels, without traditional delays. The detectors are supplied with a 5-year warranty.
