Rugged and Powerful GX-1500 Joins Series of Glacier's Forklift & Fixed-Mount Computers
Glacier Computer, a leading developer of versatile and powerful industrial computer systems for harsh environments, announces its 15" version of the GX series of rugged computers. The new GX-1500 boasts a powerful motherboard and offers a larger, high-bright 15" LCD. Specifically designed for fixed-mount data collection, the GX-1500 provides full-blown PC-based computing power for more challenging situations.
The GX-1500 features a resistive touchscreen capable of withstanding many harsh environments. It comes with 1.2 GHz Pentium III processing power and 256 MB DRAM, which is upgradeable to 512 MB. It also features a minimum 20 Gig hard drive, 10/100 Ethernet, optional 2.4 GHz wireless, and multiple industry standard I/O.
"The GX-1500 is well-suited for customers with harsh environments wishing to utilize Windows-based software," states Dan Poisson, Director of Technical Services for Glacier Computer. "We incorporated the unit into a thin enclosure capable of being mounted into a variety of space-constrained locations. The GX-1500 supports a 32-bit bus configuration allowing for high data rate 802.11 A, B, and G wireless radios. Integrated antennas reduce the chance for physical damage, while providing excellent coverage.
