Five ASTi Systems Attain Level D Certifications

In 2010 to date, Advanced Simulation Technology, inc. (ASTi, Herndon, VA) systems have achieved Level D sign-off on no fewer than five 737NG full-flight simulators, with certifications by the FAA, JAA and CAA (U.K.). Of these, four are the latest-generation Telestra 4 systems, while the other was an existing Telestra 3 system which was relocated, and consequently re-certified. All Telestra 4 certifications used ASTi's internally-developed, automated spectral analysis tool to generate the certification plot data required by the certifying authorities.

ASTi has also received orders for five additional Boeing 737NG systems, as well as two Airbus A320 simulators so far this year; more orders are anticipated through year-end. Several of these systems have already been delivered, and are in integration and testing phases. They are expected to achieve certification within 12 months of the initial order date.

The addition of a number of new modeling objects to the Telestra 4 component set, including a studio-grade 5-Band Filter and sophisticated Compressor object, have introduced new modeling capabilities, allowing precise and effective control over many aspects of the audio delivered by the Telestra 4 system. These features and tools--combined with a growing knowledge-base within the ASTi engineering team--have led to a significantly-reduced effort during system tuning to meet certification requirements.

Looking to the future, ASTi is making progress with product developments aimed at meeting the requirements set forth in the ICAO9625 Edition 3 for an automated radio environment. This product development, currently identified as CADRE, will be previewed at the 2010 I/ITSEC trade show. Stay tuned for future announcements as ASTi moves forward with this new capability.
