Firmware Release Innominate mGuard 6.0: Big Performance from Small Appliances

Berlin, April 01, 2008 - Industrial security solutions manufacturer Innominate Security Technologies AG is today announcing the release of its updated mGuard firmware 6.0. This major release allows parallel communication over Ethernet, remote diagnosis and maintenance over the internet and can be self operated or cost efficiently managed as a service from certified partners.

In recent years, industrial firewall security, routing and VPN solutions for remote maintenance have been getting even more flexible and powerful and Innominate is providing its customers with market leading industrial networking products and solutions to stay ahead of the market. Innominate's new mGuard offers precise control of network traffic, efficient networking and flexible routing for the integration of machinery and equipment into operator's networks, as well as economically scalable remote diagnosis and maintenance over the Internet and virtual private networks (VPNs).

"The upgraded version of the mGuard continues Innominate's tradition of providing robust security solutions for manufacturers. Businesses need to be more aware of the threat posed by hackers to their production lines as any infiltration could be potentially catastrophic. The updated firmware helps ensure security and integrates easily into a greater variety of environments," said Dr. Lutz Jänicke, CTO, Innominate.

Key features:

Parallel communication over Ethernet and serial dialup connection with different external networks - a machine can be integrated via Ethernet into an operator's network and at the same time be enabled for secure remote maintenance over Internet dialup and VPN, when there is no Internet access via Ethernet available.

VPN support - VPN connections can now terminate not only at the external but at any mGuard interface and be operated in any mGuard network mode.

Multi-stealth mode for the transparent protection of subnets - unique feature which allows for transparent retrofitting of a remote maintenance solution for complete machinery networks instead of just single network nodes.

Central administration with the Innominate Device Manager (IDM) via VPN connections - for devices deployed for remote maintenance purposes.

Improvements to the administrative role model - allows for targeted delegation of a precisely defined subset of administrative privileges to, e.g., local operator's or commissioning staff without security risks.

Customised default profiles - extends the options for resellers, system integrators, and other channel partners to design mGuard-based solutions replacing factory setting with customer specific profiles.
