Viking Launches New VFR-400 Releasing Panel

March 17, 2008

Hastings, Michigan, USA - Viking, a global leader in fire protection products and services, has introduced a new release/control panel for preaction and deluge fire protection systems. The VFR-400 panel replaces Viking's current PAR 3 and FireCycle® III releasing panels, which have been discontinued.

With the introduction of the VFR-400, Viking now offers a single, field programmable releasing panel to accommodate any Viking deluge and preaction system, including the exclusive FireCycle® III and Surefire® preaction systems. The new VFR-400 also accommodates multiple voltage applications, including 110/220 V and 50/60 Hz, with a single panel offering.

The VFR-400 is FM Approved and cULus listed to the new UL 864-9 standard. The panel includes four programmable class B initiating zones, two class B supervisory zones, and four programmable output circuits. Additionally, the VFR-400 features onboard, menu-driven programming with twelve pre-installed programs for ease of set-up. The panel is compatible with many different initiating devices including linear heat detection, smoke and heat detectors, water flow indicators, low air pressure switches, and manual pull stations. The VFR-400 is enclosed in a locking red cabinet that is 14-½ inches (368 mm) wide to accommodate the standard area between wall studs.

To ensure proper system activation in the event of a loss of electrical power, Viking strongly encourages the use of a dedicated releasing panel on all deluge and preaction systems. In addition to being a releasing panel, the VFR-400 is also suitable as a stand alone, six zone fire control panel.

The Viking Group is a global leader in fixed fire protection products. Viking's products and services are distributed in over 70 countries through a network of nearly 50 company-owned locations and independent distribution partners.
