New Fire Alarm Panel from Siemens Provides Large-System Capabilities at Small-System Costs

Developed for small to mid-sized facilities

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, March 10, 2004 - The Fire Safety division of Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. has introduced the FS-250, an intelligent fire alarm panel developed to meet customer requirements for schools, healthcare facilities, strip malls, motels and office buildings. The new fire alarm panel offers large-system capabilities at small-system cost.

The FS-250 is a single-loop fire alarm panel that supports up to 252 addressable inputs and 252 signal/relay outputs. The FS-250 also uses the world's most intelligent fire detector - The FirePrint® Application Specific detector.

The FS-250 is cost efficient, delivering time and cost savings. The intelligent devices are polarity insensitive and are able to operate on standard wire with no special twist or shield required. These versatile wire requirements allow existing systems to be upgraded to the FS-250 without installing new wire for the addressable loop.

In addition, the FS-250 is easy to use. The panel is programmable from the front keypad or through Windows based PC programming software. The addressable devices can be programmed with a device programmer/tester, or directly from the front panel. The device programmer/tester can also be utilized to test the addressable loop wiring for shorts and grounds, as well as device operation.

In the past, these superior features were reserved for large systems. Now, the FS-250 combines the very best in intelligent detection, with the low cost and programming ease required to compete in smaller applications.
