Kronos Delivers Enhanced Biometrics Capabilities With Kronos 4500 Touch ID Terminal

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Feb 3, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Kronos(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq: KRON) today announced the availability of an enhanced version of the Kronos 4500 Touch ID(TM) terminal, a biometric fingerscan badge terminal. The Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal provides a method for accurately verifying employee identification during the labor data collection process.

"We continually strive to lead the industry with enhanced data collection methods and have already received positive feedback on the latest release of our biometric product," commented Michael DiPietro, Kronos vice president of product and industry marketing.

The first step in using biometric technology in labor management is enrolling employees in the system by capturing their biometric data. Unlike cumbersome and restrictive employee enrollment processes offered by other vendors, Kronos now offers two enrollment methods: at the terminal, which is popular on the shop floor; and centralized enrollment at a PC which is preferred by HR managers. Having both enrollment options as well as centralized configuration and management reduces the cost of ownership for large organizations with many geographically dispersed locations.

Organizations across multiple industries already use the Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal including Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Dierberg's Markets, East Jefferson Hospital, Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners and Silgan Plastics Corporation.

Matt Zornes, systems analyst at Chesterfield, Missouri based Silgan Plastics Corporation commented, "We chose Kronos' biometric terminal because it is a fast, simple and easy data collection solution that ensures positive employee ID. It saves the company money on lost badges and employees are verified in seconds. The biometric terminal also offers an enhanced employee self-service experience not found in other products. Employees have the ability to review punch status and check schedules, all at the terminal."

The Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal is a fast and reliable way of verifying employees' identities. The Kronos 4500 Touch ID terminal ensures that employee privacy is protected because it does not capture and store actual fingerprints. Instead, the system's underlying Bioscrypt MV1200(TM) technology saves mathematical representations of an employee's fingerprint.
