SecuGen Releases New Low-Cost, High Quality Fingerprint Sensor for Integrating with Fingerprint Door Locks

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 16 / -- SecuGen announces the release of FDA02DL(TM), a new low-cost fingerprint recognition sensor that is designed for door locks and eliminates the need for keys.

The FDA02DL was designed for rapid integration into door locks for the consumer and small business markets. The FDA02DL features the same scratch- resistant, rugged, and high image quality sensor found in all SecuGen fingerprint hardware, plus a new compact size PC board and improved algorithms and technologies that increase accuracy and speed. It can identify a user without a PIN in less than half a second and stores fingerprint data for up to 100 users.

"We have added two new features that make it very easy for any person to use a fingerprint door lock without sacrificing security," says SecuGen Director of Hardware Engineering, John Kim. "The new Auto-On(TM) sensor will automatically turn on when you put your finger on it and immediately scan your fingerprint to check if you're authorized to enter. By not requiring PINs or buttons to press, it becomes very intuitive and convenient for anyone to use, even children and the elderly."

Kim continues, "With exclusive Dynamic Adaptive Enrollment(TM) technology, the FDA02DL continuously checks the quality of fingerprint data and periodically updates a user's enrollment profile to ensure that the best sampling of data is always available. This makes identification more accurate by reducing the chance for false rejection caused by poor enrollment or temporary fingerprint defects."

Features and benefits of the FDA02DL include:

o Low-cost and optimized design for fingerprint door locks, safes, and other consumer products
o Auto-On(TM) automatically detects finger, speeds up and simplifies identification process, and reduces chances for operator error
o True one-touch convenience with fast 1:MANY matching and no PINs or passwords required
o Dynamic Adaptive Enrollment(TM) increases matching accuracy by maintaining varying quality levels of enrolled fingerprints
o Acceptance of a wide range of fingerprints, including small sized, wet, dry, aged and scarred
o The industry's most impact-resistant, scratch-resistant, durable, rugged sensor that works well indoors and outdoors, even under heavy use

SecuGen Vice President of Sales, Jeff Brown, adds, "Acceptance of biometrics is growing very rapidly among consumers and small businesses for both security and convenience. The FDA02DL was developed specifically for door lock applications to meet the need for robust, reliable and high quality fingerprint hardware and software components at affordable prices. There is an accelerating interest among door lock manufacturers in embedding a hardened biometric device into their products. The FDA02DL will help door lock manufactures to quickly enter and succeed in this expanding market segment."

Also available are developer kits for the FDA02DL, which provide software and hardware tools to help manufacturers quickly integrate the sensor into their own products. For more information about the FDA02DL, developer kits or other OEM components, please contact us at sales@secugen.com.
