December 2002 - Feintool allows metalformers to increase shop capabilities and part throughput with the new long-bed HLT-1250 hydraulic fineblanking and forming press. Based on Feintool's proven HFA Plus platform, the HLT-1250 CNC press features extended 1250-mm bed length to provide ultimate tooling flexibility for value-added fineblanking and forming operations. Its high blanking force and speed, floorspace-saving hydraulic system, and user-friendly PC-based control maximize uptime and production while driving down unit cost of complex metal parts.
The new-design HLT-1250 is a triple-acting fineblanking press. In addition to a cutting force of 4000kN, it has two additional 500kN pressure pads integrated in the press table or tool change plate to allow additional forming tools for bending, drawing, counter sinking and local extrusion. The press accepts compound and progressive tools, and its long bed allows use of simpler modular tooling, which is less expensive and easier to maintain. Upper die clamping area is 1250 x 900 mm.
The HLT-1250 provides ram opening/closing speed of 200mm/s, blanking speed to 80mm/s, and maximum stroke rate of 60 strokes/min. For optimal process control at these higher speeds, the press provides automated adjustment of feed height, strip width and scrap chop.
The HLT-1250 features the easy-to-use Feintool Motion Control (FMC). Based on an industrial PC, the FMC combines Windows® NT and 12" color touch screen to simplify programming, and provides online help directly at the machine. Ethernet and Profibus capabilities allow quick communication between central data processing system and remote I/O.
The FMC incorporates a very sophisticated diagnostic system which continuously monitors a battery of press sensors and position feedback devices, directing the operator to the source of any potential fault. It also tracks press working hours, prompts for scheduled preventive maintenance and warns if data inputs exceed limit values. A sensitive die protection system - which has no mechanical parts and is independent of the part thickness - detects sudden increases in force, stopping the ram to prevent tool breakage.
Clever engineering locates the hydraulic system above the press ram to minimize floorspace requirements and eliminate need for special foundation. The redesigned hydraulic system uses precision servovalve actuation for smooth acc/dec and optimal control at higher speeds, while providing a selectable low-pressure setting for coining and special forming operations. Low-pressure setting also decreases pump wear and increases motor life.
Hydraulic tool clamping ensures rapid, accurate and reliable tool changes. Removable bolster plates provide further setup time reduction, allowing users to stage one tool while another is in use in the press. Available roller supports and an automated tool loading/unloading system further reduce tool change times, while a redesigned flat table without T-slots facilitates cleanup.
A new-design scrap hopper uses a 3° blade for more efficient material cutting, and an optimized stroke length to reduce energy consumption. A larger back access door allows room for additional part removal devices and other auxiliary equipment.
